We are committed to monitoring and continually reducing the direct impact our operations have on the environment. We conduct our business in a responsible, sustainable way and encourage our suppliers and clients to do the same.

  • Our policy, which was agreed by the Directors of GREEN on the 3rd of January 2008, considers the following:

      • Implement the Reduce, Re-use, Recycle approach in managing waste.
      • Aim to reduce total waste year upon year.
      • Recycled 640 kg of paper & 20 kg of cans and plastic bottles in 2007, saving the equivalent of 7 trees and 900 kWh of energy.
      • Energy consumption is minimised through a number of strategies including a strict switch off policy for all electrical equipment, and the use of energy efficient light fittings and appliances.
      • An Energy Audit by Islington Council commended the policies in place to reduce energy consumption.
      • All employees currently commute via public transport or on bike.
      • Better still when they don't have to be in the office they can work from home.
      • Fair Trade and environmentally friendly products are favoured.
      • Energy efficiency is a key factor considered in the purchase of electrical equipment.
      • All our paper is either recycled or FSC certified.
      • Regular carbon audit carried out to calculate GREEN's carbon footprint. The audit accounts for direct and indirect emissions in line with GHG protocol guidelines, and additional voluntary scope 3 emissions.
      • GREEN's carbon footprint from August 2007-2008 was 13.90 tCO2
      • Carbon emissions offset making GREEN a carbon neutral company
    • As a professional communications agency advising clients on marketing strategy and developing creative campaigns, we can indirectly influence the behaviour of individuals for the benefit of the environment. To ensure communication is used to drive positive social change for the benefit of the environment, and to prevent the miscommunication of information relating to the environmental performance of our clients - ('Greenwash') - we will:
    • Provide the necessary training and information to our employees so they are able to combine the traditional marketing and advertising skills base with an in-depth understanding of relevant environmental issues and policy
    • Comply with relevant environmental legislation and regulations and where appropriate we will challenge ourselves by subscribing to non-compulsory standards and policies
    • Use suppliers that comply with relevant environmental legislation and regulations, and, where practicable, have demonstrated a commitment to good environmental practices
    • Develop and maintain an Environmental Management System (EMS) which conforms to ISO 14001
    • Introduce a subsidy to assist employees to purchase a bicycle.
    • Educate our employees to the level required for them to gain associate membership of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).
    • Reduce the number of carbon credits needed each year to achieve carbon neutral status.
    • Review this policy on at least an annual basis.
    • We demonstrated our leadership on issues of sustainability in becoming one of the first marketing agencies to sign up to the Mayor of London's Green Procurement Code in 2005.
    • Since then we have also become a CarbonNeutral company, following a carbon audit of our operations. For the period of August 2007 - July 2008 we measured our carbon footprint at 13.9 tCO2 and offset our emissions accordingly.
    • We are also working towards joining UNEP's Climate Neutral Network, and are developing an Environmental Management System that will comply with the standards laid out in ISO 14001.
